Calling in Balance: Make Time to Self Nurture

by Aug 1, 2011Personal Growth, Uncategorized

Cynthia Self NurtureMy life has been in hyper-speed for weeks. It has been exciting and a joyous adventure — about me manifesting a powerful and expansive life.

However, when I called in all of this magnificence, I didn’t factor in all of the time every project would take to be in excellence. I forgot to ask for time to self nurture; I forgot to be in a place of life affirming balance. I have a lot of energy, so I feel fed by every area that I’ve helped create. The challenge, however, was about creating time for me and my family and friends. I am a people person and connecting is very important to me, so when weeks go by and I have not reached out to a friend or taken enough time for stillness, I start noticing energy depletion. It became clear that I had to do something different. I began contemplating what I needed to do to have a more balanced life. It became clear to me that I needed to do something different — I had to consciously create a new way of being.

Setting aside me-time

I recently began placing on my calendar time for me: time in the morning for meditation and still time, gym time and date time with my husband. This may sound a little “over the top” in terms of organization, but it is working. When I calendar time for me, I feel good about myself, and the people in my life feel seen and supported. Then, I began to think about what is most important to me in life. Is it work? Is it making money? What came through me is that my connection to God, myself, family and friends is what feeds me. When I honor those priorities, I am more vibrant and connected in all areas.

In a recent interview with Dr. Barbara Fields on my radio show, we asked her about a sense of balance. She spoke candidly about it and its importance in her life. For her, balance means really honoring one’s family and living environment: what she calls being an open system. She is clear that you must open to new ways of being and living. She believes that listening to many voices and many different people allows us to become more engaged and live a more fulfilled life.

I’m wondering how you are doing in this area. We are in an accelerated time on this planet. Technology is moving faster than we can ingest. What are you doing to stay attuned and aligned? Take some time this week and explore balance. How might your life look if you were experiencing a life that nurtured you and your entire being? I invite you to call it in. Call it in for your sake and for those you honor and cherish.

Take a moment to remember this:

Today, I commit to self-nurturing and the joy of honoring myself. I live a balanced life!
