What Have You Done For You Lately?

Anyone that knows me is clear that the process of self-care is a passion.  I’m not talking about spa days, manicures, pedicures and energy work. Although, I love those things and feel they are all an important part of my nurturing practice. However, they are just adjuncts to “true” self-care. What do I mean by that?

We all come here with a soul purpose encoded into our DNA.  We come with gifts, talents and powerful energy.  That energy, when nurtured and honored, becomes pathways to fulfillment of purpose, manifestation of creativity, and alignment with the abundance of the universe.  Many of us already know this. So, how do we become stuck, disillusioned, confused and wandering?  I believe it is because we have forgotten that the care and support of ourselves must be a priority.

True self-care takes place on all levels.  Mental, emotional, physical, spiritual and financial.  The support of all of these areas creates a harmonic convergence in our lives. So, how much time and energy have you put into creating the life and purpose of your human existence?

Recently, I read a post from someone on social media.  They didn’t like what a public figure was doing.  They had things to say about what they dislike about a certain creative project. It really struck me, and I was intrigued. I wondered how we can so quickly judge people who have become successful doing what they love.  It may not be our cup of tea or how we want to show up but these artists/athletes/leaders are manifesting in powerful ways.  I believe that visible people/famous people are way-showers. They open the portals of possibilities for us. They show us that if one can do something, we all have the capacity to be manifesters of the extraordinary.  They also show us what intentionality and focused work can produce.

As I was thinking about all of this, I began to wonder if I/we would be less judgmental if everyone was playing full out and creating at the highest level.  That would mean that we could appreciate how others are perfect examples of possibility. Then, we get to chart our own course.

So, let’s look at some ways to shift consciousness around our passion for life.  What if we change our internal and external narrative and create “true” self-care as a means to be the most dynamic and successful person we were meant to be. Our attention would be on totally becoming the best we could be in every moment.

Hey, think about this!  No one is above you and there is no need for comparison. Because there is no competition. You are a masterpiece and an original imprint. Therefore, circumstances do not define destiny.  The past does not define the future.  We all get to decide, in every moment, how to reveal our greatness simply by loving and uplifting ourselves fully.

WHAT IS CALLING YOU?

I used to think that we only had one calling in life.  Not true.  There are many times in a person’s life they receive callings to move in a direction. A calling is like a magnetic and an all-consuming internal push.  Callings draw you toward them and will not let you go. They start as a tiny nagging thought or feeling, then begin to take over your mind and drive you.  Sometimes, the callings are non-linear and may not make any sense.  However, you feel a sense of urgency and a strong inclination to follow.

Many years ago, my acting career was slowing down. I was a single mom and needed to focus my attention on how to create income if acting did not pick up.  I was meditating one morning and got this feeling to go to school.  It made no sense.  I journaled about it and then put it away.  A few days later I had a dream about going to school again.  When I woke up and went into meditation, I got this remembrance of a school called The University of Santa Monica.  Several friends had attended. It was a masters’ degree program in spiritual psychology.  Once again, I pushed it aside.  Over the next month, my mind would be flooded with thoughts of this school.  Finally, I called and asked for a consultation.  In, 20 minutes I got a call back from the head of administration.  He was kind and totally got who I was.  I still wasn’t convinced because schools cost money and I had a lot of things on my plate.  But I went to one of their intro sessions and it was clear that I was called to do this. So, I took an application home. Each day, the feelings and thoughts to do this became overwhelming.  I was guided to pay for the first year on a credit card.  It put me in debt. Also, I had no idea how I was going to pay for the second year. It felt crazy. But, everything in me was excited and knew I was to proceed.

The next year was amazing.  Acting stopped completely, but my counseling/coaching business birthed. Instantly, the clientele exploded without me marketing. I got invitations to sing and speak.  All of that, paid me, took care my children and paid for the second year.

The amazing thing was the second year required you to do two things. Create “your own” counseling strategy” and do a passion project.  The strategy I created became the emotional integration work I do today.  The project became my first four meditation CD called Shadows To Light.

There is no time like the present to honor you and the calling that wants to support your evolution. My clients, over the years, have complained about feeling stuck.  When I ask them what messages have they received? They share feelings, thoughts, and visions.  The challenge is that they don’t listen and follow because it does not make sense.  Hey, the universe will call but you have to pick up the phone to get the message.

Many of the women in my programs say “I don’t know why I said yes to this.  I just had to move.”  These women have started businesses, created their dream jobs, left harmful relationships and doubled or tripled their income.

There may be something right now that is calling you. Something, that makes no sense.  I want to invite you to listen to that inner voice and nudge.  Take action and trust that there is a delivery system for the calling. What if it was inviting you into a place of extraordinary growth, expansion and abundance. Yes, you might have to invest in you, but the rewards could be beyond your wildest dreams.  Every time, I said yes to a calling the rewards supported the unfolding of my purpose.

ASK EMPOWERING QUESTIONS

As I was graduating from the program in Spiritual Psychology.  I was excited to share with one of my instructors that I had been offered a great job.  She was very present, but her response surprised me.  She asked, “Is it big enough for you?”  I stared at her and didn’t know how to respond.  So, I simply said, “it feels that way.”  She smiled and walked away.  I have reflected on that exchange many times, but it wasn’t until 6 years ago that I got her meaning.

That woman was seeing my essence, my power, and the possibilities of a destiny that was beyond my comprehension at the moment.  Often, someone can see your beautiful light before you do. That is the power of community and gifted guides/teachers/coaches.

The question the woman asked has become the beginning of a part of my spiritual practice.  Every morning, I ask questions of the universe.  They are always questions seeding my growth and expansion.  For instance, “What is my unique genius?  How can my life get better than this? Who are my ideal clients willing to pay for the value I deliver? How can I be in high service to humanity? is the choice I am about to make big enough for my mission?”

Those questions have been catalysts for enormous shifts in my life.  I believe it is because I am more willing than ever to put myself first and then lift my commitment to be in service.  Many clients that I have try to put service first and then realize that they are on the verge of burnout.

Here are some sample questions to jumpstart you putting yourself first.  I encourage you to add your own and make it a part of your practice.

1. What is my unique genius and how do I share it in the world easily and creatively?
2. What are the next steps needed to move me in the direction of my destiny
3. Who are my strategic alliances excited to support my expansion
4. How can I be completely open and receptive to life’s abundance, and financial freedom
5. How do I embrace my value and charge accordingly
6. If this moment is answered prayer, what’s next
7. How can I support myself and be in service to humanity?

As you complete 2020 and prepare 2021 take a good look at your life. Look at what you have done lately to take yourself to the next level of expression and expansion. You have to invest time, energy and money into creating the life of your dreams.  Listen to your inner calling. Trust it.  The world is waiting for your brilliance to be unleashed.
